Science - Spring Term

The first science topic to be covered this term is 'Materials and their properties'. The children will be working scientifically and discovering how to plan and carry out independent investigations and research. They will look at uses for different materials; thermal insulators and conductors; mixtures and solutions; separating mixtures; reversible and irreversible changes.

The second science topic covered is Earth & Space - at the end of this topic the children will be able to:

describe the movement of the Earth and other planets relative to the sun in the solar system
describe the movement of the moon relative to the Earth
describe the sun, Earth and moon as approximately spherical bodies
use the idea of the Earth’s rotation to explain day and night and the apparent movement of the sun across the sky
