Religious Education

Religious Education is central to the life of the school. We follow the scheme “The Way, The Truth and The Life” as directed by the Diocese of Shrewsbury.  The scheme is used from Nursery to Year 6 and has units for each year group studied on a half termly basis. We commit 10% of our teaching time to RE.

We aim to foster the spiritual development of our children by experiencing the love of God and leading them to a greater understanding of our faith, not just through our R.E. lessons, but through collective worships, personal reflections and by putting our faith into action and living it out on a daily basis.

Collective worship takes place in class each day with prayers and time for reflection. Children are invited through the Parish to receive the Sacraments of Forgiveness and Holy Communion in Year 3. The children are supported in school through ongoing work in the RE programme.

The whole school community meets for assembly on Monday and Friday. Each Key Stage has a further collective worship on Wednesday.  We attend Mass regularly at St. Theresa’s Parish Church both on Sundays and on special school days throughout the year.  Key Stage 2 have class Masses on a regular basis to which parents and parishioners are invited.
