Our Curriculum
At St. Theresa’s, we are proud to offer a broad and balanced curriculum which builds on the knowledge, skills and understanding of all children whatever their starting points. We recognise that, following the pandemic, recovering learning may take longer for some rather than others and this can be particularly true of our youngest learners. Therefore, our school aims to provide a rich, supportive and stimulating environment with an atmosphere of mutual respect based on our mission statement ‘Fully valuing everyone in the love of Jesus, caring and learning together.’ We aim to ensure each child entrusted to our care can reach their full potential by developing a love of learning and a desire to succeed with forgiveness and compassion at the heart of all we do.
Our curriculum incorporates the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum, which was redesigned and introduced in 2014. Through our taught curriculum, together with additional activities, opportunities and ethos, we aim to prepare pupils for the responsibilities of adult life and to lay a firm foundation for future learning.
We know that everyone has a preferred learning style and we recognise the need to develop strategies that allow all children to learn in ways that suit them irrespective of their ability, background, ethnic origin or gender. We work hard at school to ensure that all children can access the curriculum and learn in a way that is best for them.
