Colours Topic

Class: Foundation Stage 2 Year: 2013 - 2014

We are looking at different colours each week throughout Spring 1.

Week 1 - gold, silver and bronze

We will learn about the 3 kings visiting baby Jesus. We will make our own crowns!

Week 2 - green and yellow

We will listen to 'The Gruffalo' story and create a woods mixing different shades of green paint. We will describe the Gruffalo and act out the story.

Week 3 - red

We will listen to the story of 'The Big Red Bus Ride'. We will turn our role play into a red bus. We will learn about different road signs and learn to add numbers on a 'number bus'.

Week 4 - black and white

We will listen to 'Funnybones' stories and learn about skeletons. We will investigate shadows and make our own shadows using torches.

Week 5 - blue

We will listen to 'The Blue Balloon' story. We will investigate freezing water inside balloons to create different shapes. We will fill and empty blue water in differently sized and shaped containers.

Week 6 - rainbow week

We will learn the rainbow song, learn how rainbows are made, listen to the stories of 'The Rainbow Fish' and 'Elmer' the patchwork elephant.
